A Crazy Awesome Year

It's hard to believe that it has been a year since we got married! That a year ago today we were in Logan making a commitment to intertwine our lives. It has been a pretty fantastic (a.k.a crazy awesome) year for us.

Some highlight points:
-Obviously, our wedding day in Logan, UT
-Creating our home in our Riverton Treehouse
-A full and fun honeymoon to Cancun, Mexico
-Morgan's graduation from High School
-A fantastic wedding celebration in Huntsville, AL
-Grant and Lauren's wedding
-Super Spartan
-Many hikes in the summer (Olympus!)
-A job change for Geneva!
-Several visit to St. George
-Mesa Verde, Arizona
-The Parliament of World Religions
-Timpanogos Cave
-Macarons!
-Lots and lots of climbing :)
-Visits to the Downtown SL Farmers Market
-Christmas in Alabama
-Peaches the Cat!
-2 Cellos Concert

But really, while the highlights have been fantastic, the details and day to day have made up the bulk of the year. Coming home, cooking meals together (trying many many new recipes - some hits, some misses), cleaning, sleeping, driving, planning, emailing, texting - it is in all the small moments of working together that I feel truly lucky to be married to Brandon and together with each other.

And while this year has been spectacular and happy, we've had four and a half years (our first year of marriage included) to build our lives together. To create our own version of wonderful. And the best part? That there is more of that to come. :)

LunchMoney Lewis - Mama

This song has been all over facebook over the last few days (mostly in the form of this video - not the one below). It's such a happy song, and very fitting for today.

Thanksgiving Point Tulip Festival

About a week or two back we - on a whim - decided to go down and maybe take a look at the Tulip Festival. However, when we got there we discovered that it was $20 a person and it looked to rain that afternoon so we went and ran some other errands instead.

Yesterday we went down again, this time meeting Zach and Emily (and their children) there. It was a bad driving day and there were two bad accidents that made getting there (even though it isn't far from us) more difficult. But we made it! And they made it! And we met up inside near the food trucks where we (Brandon and me) were having a late afternoon meal (Cupbop!).

As we had initially hurried down from the lodge, we'd passed over a large waterfall (seriously - very long fall) and an owl nest (three little owls and a very harassed looking mama owl) - totally surprises to us. I don't think we'd really known what to expect inside the gardens - other than the obvious tulips. The rest of the garden was more garden like - plenty of flowers, secret nooks, gazebos and the like. A fish pond full of large hungry koi. Activities for kids. Those kinds of things.

We had a great time.
