This year's 4th of July was pretty mild for us, and we liked it that way. There were several other potentially more interesting things we could have done, but we're still struggling with the fact that every chance we get to relax and do nothing, we want to take. So traveling and not having solid rejuvenation time seemed like things we didn't want to do this weekend.
Instead, we relaxed and kept things simple. We had dinner at Leatherby's (good old American food) before heading up South Mountain near Suncrest to sit and wait for the fireworks all over the valley. We'd taken a computer with us to watch "The Imitation Game" while we waited.
The view from up there really was pretty incredible, but quite different from the experience of sitting beside the fireworks as they explode. From up high, things seem much quieter, a gentle booming coming in little pops from all over. But you get a better perspective on how wide spread the celebration was - which is pretty cool. We enjoyed it, but we stopped on the way home to enjoy a few more fireworks close up.
